Some things are just better by hand. This is one of them.

It all started over fifty years ago, a young girl, her mom, and the full-on creative chaos of the late seventies country decor craze. We were making things together before "handmade" was even a hashtag. That spark never went out. It just kept going, kept growing, and eventually found its home here at The Hanley Studio.

Every single item you find here is made by us right here in Washington, Illinois, with the help of an ever-growing craft supply collection. Not ordered. Not imported. Not printed by a machine and dropped in a box. Handmade. By actual human hands. That means every piece is one of a kind because when you're making things by hand, that's just how it works.

We're a bit perfectionist (okay, maybe more than a bit), and we take a lot of pride in what we put out into the world. That said handmade is handmade. There's a real person behind every cut, every fold, every finished piece, and sometimes that means it has a little character of its own. What we can promise you is this: if something ever isn't right, we will make it right. Full stop.
